Death of a scholar
Outstanding Sinhala scholar, Kalasuri Arisen Ahubudu has passed away. He was 91.

He was a writer, teacher, poet a lyricist, and a playwright.

He is well known for his popular songs such as 'Lanka Lanka Pembera Lanka', 'Pruthugesikaraya', 'Sudata sude walakuali'.

Well versed in the Sinhala language, his contribution to Sinhala literature and especially to the Sinhala language is enormous.

He is a member of the Hela Havula.

He won govt. literary awards for his poetry ‘Paraviya’ in 1962 and poetry collection ‘Athu Aga Dili Vana Mal’ in 1987, and the Sarasavi Award for the best movie song written for the film ‘Handaya’ in 1979.

Kalasuri Arisen Ahubudu served as a teacher for forty two years.

He was born on 18th March 1920 in the village of Malalagama in Koggala.
