Newquay's European longboard champion Ben Skinner is hoping to qualify for the World Championships at next week's Boardmasters event.
The Jersey-born 26-year-old will be competing in the first ever ranking event for longboarders at the Watergate Bay-based championships next week.
"I want to qualify for the worlds in Sri Lanka so it's all about next week," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.
He says his main rival will be French longboarder Antoine Delpero.
"We've got a good rivalry," he said of Delpero. "We've had a lot of contests worldwide and I can't wait to hopefully beat him here on home turf."
Skinner is the second seed for the event, behind Delpero who is ranked number two in the world.
