Changes to the digital text service

We are making some small changes to the digital service you receive on pressing the red button on your Freeview, Freesat, Virgin or Sky remote.

Previously, Ceefax powered digital text pages, however the closure of that platform in 2012 gave us an opportunity to bring digital text in line with our publishing on other services.

This means we can manage digital text more efficiently and offer a more comprehensive sport service; for instance some sections now have more room for headlines.

The separation of headlines and statistics (eg. fixtures, results, tables, rankings) is now more explicit.

For example, if you go to the cricket section index you will see headlines and below that, sections for live scores, results/fixtures, and tables. On selecting headlines you will get all the latest cricket news and match reports.

The changes also allow us to include more headlines than we could on the old service in rugby union, rugby league, Formula 1, tennis and golf.

There are also new dedicated sections for MotoGP, snooker and athletics in the 'More Sports' section (page 380).

Horse racing, in keeping with the navigation on the BBC Sport website, has been moved to the 'More Sports' section. We are aware of styling issues on the horse racing results pages and are working to rectify these.

Some of the statistical improvements include the separation of Formula 1 results and standings and the creation of dedicated sections for rugby results/fixtures and tables.

There are also a few additional page changes as follows:

Motorsport becomes Formula 1 (p360).

London & South East areas are merged into a single group (p3920).

Yorkshire & N Lincs are merged into a single group (p3930).

East Midlands & Lincolnshire are merged into a single group (p3945).

You can find out more about the wider changes on p998 and if you have any specific queries about the Sport service please email us at sport.interactive@bbc.co.uk
