I really wish the people who write this drivel would first check the weather stats. I think they'd find all of these weather patterns have happened before. And it wasn't too long ago when some alarmist predicted the end of the Winter Olympics because they'd be no snow. And yet the conditions in South Korea are too cold for participants to stand around for too long or risk health issues.
this article is idiotic.losing a few golf courses etc is simply irrelevant to most of the world and pales into insignificance compared to the other problems that global warming and sea level rise will cause.its the rich idiots that play golf that are helping to cause the problems in the first place.
230. To be fair, pebble beach should last a few years longer, perched up on the cliffs, great spot.
First World problems......
Meanwhile, Pebble Beach - on the sun-drenched Californian coast - has avoided being swept away by all these (much-debated) climate-change-induced rising sea levels and is looking absolutely magnificent/in pristine condition today in Rd1.Enjoy the golf everyone ... while the course is still there!
End of the Century? Chance is only evens that the Human Race will survive that long, so why worry?
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
Have they actually BEEN to St Andrews???
225. The difficulty of courses being played on the European tour and PGA are not down to Sky. Are Sky just being blamed for everything now?
The least of Golf's problems is CC...most courses will close in the next 30 years because it's not a game for young peopleCourses near me have lost 10-30% of the Members in only 10 yearsSKY are crucifying Golf as they want every Player to be at least 15 under Par with'Stars' winning on Pitch & Putt courses at 20 under Par...Fleetwood won the other week without hitting the fairway
Climate change is not the same as coastal erosion, which has probably been going on for something like 4 billion years. The earth moves in mysterious ways. Non story.
Dont care! Cant watch any opens now its all on SKY!
@ 221. JimmyCThe thing is, it meets the criteria for the BBC's Climate Alarmist agenda.
The report is written by Climate Coalition, a pressure group ... hardly an independent opinion. I would expect the journalist to flag that fact and put the views in context rather than simply rehashing it and going oh my god the links courses are all going to get washed away. Poor reporting
