Tampa Bay Buccaneers took Florida State's 21-year-old quarterback Jameis Winston with first pick in the NFL's annual draft.

In the draft, one of the biggest events in the US sporting calendar, teams pick from the best college players.

All 32 teams took part in Thursday's first of seven rounds.

Second pick was quarterback Marcus Mariota, taken by Tennessee Titans, while Jacksonville Jaguars took defensive end Dante Fowler Jr third.

Teams with the worst records from the previous season get first choice in the draft.

Rounds two and three are held on Friday, with London-born Jay Ajayi likely to be selected.
