Britain out of London 2012 test event at Lord's

Great Britain have been knocked out in the first round of the London Classic event at Lord's by Ukraine.

Larry Godfrey, Alan Wills and Simon Terry were up against Olympic champion Viktor Ruban and team-mates Dmytro Hrachov and Markiyan Ivashko.

GB, who were ranked 12th at the event, were winning 106-105 at the half-way stage of the 24-arrow shoot but eventually lost out 211-206.

The competition doubles up as a test event for the 2012 Olympic Games.

"I made some great shots but they just weren't getting near," said Bristol-born Godfrey, who is seeded 13th in the men's individual event.

"It would have been good to get through, just to get the experience really because it's not very often we get to train here.

"The more time you spend somewhere the better your advantage.

"You can count our practice days here on one hand. We're not like some of the other teams, like the cyclists at the velodrome, there is no real home advantage because we don't get to practice here all the time."

Godfrey will compete in the individual event at 1005 BST on Friday.
