Amy Foster came in seventh in the 200m final at the World University Games in China on Friday.

The City of Lisburn club athlete's 23.58 seconds was just 0.05 slower than the new Northern Ireland record she set on Thursday.

Foster, who is the Irish senior champion, finished fourth in her semi-final in Shenzhen earlier on Friday after clocking a time of 23.61.

She missed out on a place in the 100m final earlier this week.

Foster finished fifth in her 100m semi-final in 11.60, which was actually the eighth fastest over the two semis, but it was the top four in each who qualified.

She reached the semi-finals by finishing second in her heat in 11.64.

Meanwhile, Derry swimmer Ryan Harrison was fifth in the 200m freestyle final in 1:49.18 on Thursday.
