Paralympic gold medallist Bethany Firth backs Runher event

Bethany Firth celebrates with her gold medal

Paralympic gold medallist Bethany Firth and Olympic great Dame Mary Peters will be among the big names supporting Sunday's latest all-female Runher Series event at Stormont.

Seaforde swimmer Firth will start the Dash for Kids event which will also include Special Olympians from the North Down and Banbridge clubs.

Dame Mary will start the 5K race before taking part in the Childline 5K walk.

The Dash for Kids starts at 13:00 BST with the other events at 14:00 BST.

Others set to compete include a team made up of Ulster rugby team wives and partners plus a number of other top local sports women.

"We couldn't believe the response we had for our Coastal Run in May," says race director Michael Jenkins. "But if anything this has been even better.

"We reckon we could have more than 50 teams from a broad canvas of sports personalities and good causes.

"To greet them all we have a new start and finish area, slap bang in front of Parliament Buildings at the top of the hill , a spread of events, entertainment for all the family and an athletes village."
