Bethany Firth celebrates with her gold medal

Northern Ireland Paralympic gold medallist Bethany Firth has made the qualifying time for the IPC World Championships in Montreal in August.

The Seaforde girl reached the benchmark for the 100m backstroke in her preliminary heat at the Irish National Championships in Dublin on Thursday.

She bettered her time to 1:05.67 in the semi-final and is the fourth fastest qualifier for Friday's final.

Sycreika McMahon was second in the 200m freestyle and 200m butterfly events.

McMahon, 18, came home behind Katinka Hosszu from Hungary in both races as she grabbed two silver medals at the National Aquatic Centre.

She has already qualified for this summer's world championships.

Bethany Carson from Lisburn was third in the 200m freestyle.
