Guernsey's Great Britain Under-20s 400m runner Cameron Chalmers has a great chance of winning gold at the Island Games, according to Guernsey team manager Tom Druce.
The 18-year-old could take advantage of Isle of Man's Joe Reid deciding to miss the games in favour of the European Junior Championships in Sweden.
"We may have an exciting race and gold medallist at the end of it," he said.
Chalmers' best of 48.34 is almost two seconds off Druce's island record.
"He's got incredible natural talent, there's a lot more still to come," added Druce, who retired last summer holding the Guernsey best of 46.37.
