@4 - any media outlet (in the UK anyway) which names athletes suspected of doping without sufficient proof will be sued - and under current libel laws, probably lose.
How can the man who left thousands of seats EMPTY at the massively oversubscribed London Olympics fix anything? Bah! HUMBUG!
"Can Coe FIX athletics?"Perhaps not the best choice of wording in the circumstances!
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
We all know doping is widespread in Atletics ala. Lance Armstrong cycling. But people continue to watch it.Its their choice, so they shouldn't complain.
@ 6 It appears that you are actually writing about yourself with your opening comment.Seb Coe did an excellent job with the Olympics but that was the subject of yesterday's HYS.
Money- making- chain form chemists to athletes, won't stop, as for Coe, did anyone expect him to be pleased at scandal.Coe= politician's damage limitation.
Lord Coe on Sunday:He "takes these allegations extremely seriously"http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/athletics/33752070Lord Coe today:"It is a declaration of war on my sport. There is nothing in our history of competence and integrity in drug testing that warrants this kind of attack."http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/athletics/33784236Anyone know what happened the last few days?
Coe can spit his dummy all he wants but the general public will now distrust statements from all athletes claiming to be "clean". Those that are clean are being laughed at by the cheats knowing that the odds of being caught are minimal compared to the riches they can aquire. If he wants to get rid of the cheats make sure the punishments are a deterent not a minor hindrance.
This man is full of it. First he spins a load of old codswallop about "legacy" to sell the Olympics in 2012 to the British public & the IOC. Sadly, they buy it.Now he's at it again to try to sell himself as the next IOC President who is strong and will take on the cheats.Forget the old runner Coe. This man is a politician and has been for decades. Do not believe a word he says.
the fact everybody is afraid to question the current athletes in british athletics doesnt fill me full of confidence, especially considering who their coaches are! This will probably be a gimic and britain can continue to believe that its genetics and quorn making people so fast. PS>TEAM DOCTORS ARE THERE TO GIVE OUT PLASTERS!
If these private investigators say that a third of medals won in major championships were gained by cheats, then they why don't they name and shame them?
big business pays athletes to win and then sells its goods to those in awe. the real question is whether the public will watch sports knowing the winners, big stars are on drugs.this is what governing bodies are really frightened about.money!
@ 1 I think you need to explain what you mean.Hope that all the cheats are driven out of all sport.
I bet he knows too much already.
