Former European Cross Country champion Gemma Steel has decided to focus on the 10,000m rather than the marathon at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
The Leicestershire athlete, 30, who is the third fastest British woman in history over 10K, is yet to compete at an Olympic or Commonwealth Games.
She finished third in Saturday's Great Edinburgh Cross Country.
"I'd like to think that the 10,000m on the track would be an attainable and realistic target," Steel said.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leicester, she continued: "It's more realistic than running a marathon. I think we will see about a marathon next year in London."
Steel also said having UK Athletics funding taken away from her in November has spurred her on.
"It is a bonus to be on the funding, a privilege that a lot of people haven't got," she said.
"It was a bonus and it has just inspired me more to try to get it back now. Hopefully I can get back to the level I was at."
