I'd like to believe this, however Kenya like Russia is corrupt, rubbish drug testing programme. Athletes are being stripped of medals from Russia and Kenya. Both countries need banning, cheats need imprisonment and life time bans.
As someone who runs regularly and cannot get anywhere marathon distance - well done to everyone who finished or had the courage to try! Particular mention to Swansea runners who can be very proud of your athletes.
Josh Griffths what a run in one of the worlds great marathons! If you want to enjoy something run 100 meters if you want to achieve something run a marathon.I would never explain to a non runner what it means to run,I don't really care about drug cheats we carry on doing what we love,If anyone would like to run get along to the local Parkrun the biggest success story in the UK ever.
42. Lord_Blues_Legend"The one true idiot in every family is the London marathon viewer."So what did you think of this years coverage?
I like watching the London marathon.
Why do people comment on articles they haven't read? Josh Griffiths was not only mentioned but a video interview with him was included.
It's sad, but because of the state of the sport I can't help but be suspicious that such an old athlete (35 is well past her prime) has set numerous personal bests this year. I hope she's clean, I really do, but with the large numbers of Kenyans failing tests and Wada only viewing Kenya as behind Russia in its drug problems I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if there was more bad news.
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
BBC confuse FAME 4 ABILITY ....When a famous unproven UK athlete with advertising deals and on TV makes a move in a race, the biased commentators prematurely predict a win and start hanging medals on their necks but when unknown talented Kenyan runner from a country with a pedigree tradition makes a move they predict failure due to inexperience no wonder UK pampered athletes never win! PREJUDICE
Kenyans are the Best!!! 🇰🇪 of Best!
Looking through the comments posted on here I find people complaining that there is no mention of Josh Griffiths. I can only assume they are commenting without having actually read the article as I had no trouble finding mention of Josh's great achievement.
Athletes are tested all year round, and have to declare their whereabouts so as not to avoid being tested.Unfortunately, some cheats are a step ahead of the testers.Great run by Dibaba... closing until stomach cramps in the last few miles...fantastic race.
do these "elite" athletes have urine samples taken and drugs tests carried out after the "event" ? arguably the sport most mired in corruption etc that there is, shameful
What you should be doing is running after Branson for not paying his taxesNow he wants your money, Virgin money 💰
i have run 3 london marathons in past. pb 3h5min. no longer watch athletics full of drug cheats. not like football...thats full of match fixing....just wait and see...in a few years the truth will come out...needs to come out as too much money involved.
Credit to joshua Griffiths on a fantastic achievement but 2hrs 15 fastest brit, just shows you how little strength and depth there is. In Kenya you don't mention you've run a marathon unless it's sub 2.12, Paula Radcliffe at her best run 2.15! The course record is 2hr 3min
I love beer and kebabs on my day off, but strangely I dont have asthma. All these top level athletes that just develop it is amazing, what a coincidence.........Athletics is broken much like cycling was.Only person I ever watch is Usain Bolt, I pray he is clean, if he ever fails, it is over for good.
Disgraceful, biased commentary. Paula openly willing Keitani to collapse and Brendan also wanting the outstanding new winner, wanjuri, to be beaten. An apology should be made to both athletes
Typical, someone does well and they are loathed on HYS.
