European Cross-Country Championships: Andrew Butchart leads GB challenge

Scots Andrew Butchart and Steph Twell will lead the British challenge at the forthcoming European Cross-Country Championships in Samorin, Slovakia.

Butchart, the Scottish 3,000m and 5,000m record holder, finished fifth in a trial race in Liverpool last weekend.

The men's team for the event, on Sunday, 10 December, also includes Tom Lancashire, now coached by Steve Cram.

Twell is joined in the women's team by trials winner Emelia Gorecka and 2014 European cross champion Gemma Steel.

British senior men's team: Andrew Butchart (Central AC); Ben Connor (Derby), Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers), Tom Lancashire (Bolton), Sam Stabler (Leicester), Alex Teuten (Southampton).

British senior women's team: Emelia Gorecka (Aldershot Farnham & District), Lily Partridge (Aldershot Farnham & District), Gemma Steel (Charnwood), Charlotte Taylor (Nene Valley), Steph Twell (Aldershot Farnham & District), Elle Vernon (Stockport).

Full GB squad including U23 and Junior teams.
