Charles van Commenee on UK Athletics funding decisions

Charles van Commenee, head coach for UK Athletics, says personal feelings had to be put aside in making decisions over funding, including the move to drop Kelly Sotherton, who he coached to Olympic heptathlon bronze in 2004.

Van Commenee also tells BBC Radio 5 live's Mike Costello there was no room to give Mark Lewis-Francis top-tier funding after he was not selected for the World Championship 4x100m final in Daegu in August. However, the sprinter will still receive lower-tier funding and full support.

The Dutch coach insists there is "every reason to be positive"about the team's chances of reaching the target of eight medals at the London 2012 Olympics.
