Thomas Barr delighted with 2015 season as he wins Irish award

Thomas Barr is thrilled with his 2015 season as he is named Irish athlete of the year following his triumph at the World University Games in South Korea.

400m hurdler Barr finished the season ranked 12th in the world in his event after narrowly missing out on a place in the final at the World Championships in Beijing.

"It was the best season of my life. It just kept going from good to better," Barr told BBC Sport Northern Ireland.

Barr improved his Irish record from 48.90 seconds to a world-class 48.65 during the summer.
