Reid would turn down GB London place

Leon Reid says he would turn down a place in Britain's team for next month's World Championships in London in order to maintain his hopes of switching international allegiance to Ireland.

Reid, 22, appeared to put himself in contention for a place in the Britain team by finishing a surprise third in the 200m final at the British World Championship trials in Birmingham on Sunday.

The Bath-based sprinter has won medals for Britain at European Junior and European Under-23 level.
