Irish boxer Kellie Harrington says her world championship silver medal should ensure that she becomes a funded athlete.
The Dubliner, 26, was edged out by China's Wenlu Yang on a split decision in the light-welterweight final in Kazakhstan.
"It should set me up so I won't have to work quite as much any more. That will help me get by and I'll be able to train with the high performance unit," said a delighted Harrington.
Despite her success in Astana, Harrington will not be competing at this year's Olympics as her weight will not be in the Rio Games.
