Ex-England batsman Nick Compton bids for Middlesex captaincy

Middlesex batsman Nick Compton tells BBC London he wants to captain the side when Adam Voges is away on international duty with Australia.

Voges, 35, will play in Middlesex's first four County Championship games before linking up with Australia for a two-Test series in the West Indies and then the Ashes series in England this summer.

Compton rejoined Middlesex from Somerset this winter and says he has the hunger to score runs with a view to getting a recall to the England squad.

The 31-year-old played nine Tests for England but has not been selected since the 2013 home series against New Zealand.
