Stephen Cook: When South Africa Test opener played in Reading

Opening batsman Stephen Cook marked his Test debut for South Africa with a century against England.

A decade ago, he was playing club cricket for Reading and working at a nearby school, having been recruited by former Berkshire captain Mark Simmons.

"The fact that he could use the facilities [at the school] including the nets and the bowling machine, which he used religiously, played a big part in him choosing the South of England," Simmons tells BBC Radio Berkshire.

"He was a consummate professional but also a very nice guy."
