Collina and Elleray concerned by referee criticism

Former top referees Pierluigi Collina and David Elleray express concern about excessive criticism of officials at the highest levels.

Italian Colina says that criticism of referees is killing the game because it takes years to develop them and only seconds to destroy them.

Speaking at the same conference, former Premier League referee Elleray backs up that view saying he is concerned that a small number of mistakes made by officials that get "huge publicity".

Colina begins by expressing fears that match-fixing will destroy the credibility of football and warns that everyone who cares about the game should take it seriously.
