Martin Edwards reveals Man Utd's approach for Sir Alex Ferguson

Former Manchester United chairman Martin Edwards explains the extraordinary methods the club used to make contact with Alex Ferguson and offer him the Old Trafford managerial post.

He reveals that Man Utd director Mike Edelson phoned Aberdeen and pretended to be Gordon Strachan's agent, complete with fake Scottish accent, in order to be put through to Ferguson.

Edwards and Edelson then drove to Aberdeen to meet Ferguson on Bonfire Night 1986 before making an official approach to Aberdeen.

He goes on to discuss Sir Alex Ferguson's success at Manchester United and talks about when and how he might eventually leave the club.
