Monday Night Club Extra - The Art of Punditry

In front of a live studio audience in the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra studio in Salford, Monday Night Club's Mark Chapman, Steve Claridge, John Motson, Robbie Savage and journalist Ian McGarry discuss the art of punditry following Roy Keane's criticism of Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson in the Sunday Times.

According to Motson, the former United skipper and television pundit's comments beg the question: "When should a former player detach himself from the game and give an honest opinion?"

Claridge advises pundits to avoid making "scathing criticisms", while Savage insists he will always make comments "from the heart", but feels he has to justify criticising top players, such as Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, because they are "miles better" than he was.
