Bolton Wanderers chairman and FA board member Phil Gartside praises Harry Redknapp as an "outstanding English manager" and says the Tottenham boss "would make a good England coach."
The FA plan to make a decision towards the end of the season, but Redknapp has long been favourite to fill the post vacated by Fabio Capello in February.
However, pressure has been been building in recent weeks for the FA to speed up that process, with former England captains Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker calling for a quicker appointment.
Gartside is not part of the four-man panel that will choose the next England boss. The responsibility of appointing a new coach falls to FA director of football development Trevor Brooking, general secretary Alex Horne, Club England managing director Adrian Bevington and FA chairman David Bernstein.
