Villa in massive battle - Warnock

Aston Villa left-back Stephen Warnock says the club are in a "massive battle" to avoid relegation after they gave away two goals in three minutes as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Bolton.

He says they must "fight tooth and nail" to escape their slide down the table.

Warnock scored Villa's opener as they dominated proceedings, but the home side's confidence plummeted after two quick-fire goals from Martin Petrov and David Ngog left Villa shell-shocked and with just 13 points from 16 games in 2012.

Warnock says Villa "need to be more clinical in front of goal" in order to avoid dropping into the Championship, but refuses to blame manager Alex McLeish for their troubles, stating the players must take responsibility for their performances.
