Euro 2012: England 'spirit' delights Hodgson

England manager Roy Hodgson delights in the "spirit" shown by his players in a 1-0 win over co-hosts Ukraine that sees them top Group D and set-up a quarter-final against Italy in Kiev on Sunday.

The unbeaten boss describes the Italians as "worthy" opponents but admits he's glad to have avoided "clear favourites" Spain, whilst stressing the importance of an extra days rest.

Wayne Rooney's point-blank header shortly after half-time gave England the win that sees them through as group leaders with seven points and eliminates Ukraine.
