Chelsea sacking Di Matteo was unfair - Pardew

Alan Pardew says he is "astonished" by Chelsea's sacking of manager Roberto Di Matteo.

The Newcastle manager believes the Italian, who won the FA Cup and Champions League during his eight months in charge at Stamford Bridge, did "absolutely nothing wrong" says it was impossible for the Italian to change the make-up of his squad "overnight".

In September Pardew signed an eight-year deal to keep him at St James' Park until 2020.
