Newcastle 'character' impresses Pardew

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew believes his team have raised their performance level in recent weeks, despite suffering a 2-1 defeat at Tottenham.

After Gareth Bale's free-kick had put Spurs ahead with five minutes gone, Yoan Gouffran equalised for Newcastle, but Bale pounced to fire home the winner with just over ten minutes of the match remaining.

But Pardew insisted his side had shown "good character" in not allowing the home side to run away with the match after taking an early lead, and says Newcastle's fans have "a lot to look forward to" from the team.
