Everton manager David Moyes says his side have to "keep believing" that they can finish in the top four of the Premier League, after they beat Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park.
He also says defender Phil Jagielka will have surgery to stitch up an ankle injury he suffered during the game.
Marouane Fellaini scored his 11th league goal of the season with a first-half header to put Everton ahead, before Steven Pienaar and Kevin Mirallas wrapped up victory. Substitute Hal Robson-Kanu's late goal was only a consolation for Reading.
Everton are now six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham and just two points off Arsenal in fifth, with the two north London clubs meeting on Sunday.
