Nottingham Forest defender Kelvin Wilson tells BBC East Midlands Today that he left Champions League football with Celtic to progress his career in the English Championship.
The 27-year-old returns to the City Ground on a three-year, £2.5 million deal from the Scottish Premiership giants.
He won two league titles with Celtic and helped Neil Lennon's side progress to the Champions League play-off round earlier this week.
But Wilson said the lure of helping Forest challenge for Premier League promotion and family ties to Nottingham were too great to ignore.
"I wouldn't have just joined any club, it had to be the right club and it doesn't get more right then Nottingham Forest for me," he said.
