Former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Gordon Smith tells BBC Sussex he hopes the club can return to the top tier of English football.
The 59-year-old played in the old First Division for the Seagulls and featured in their sole FA Cup final appearance in 1983.
The Sussex club were relegated the same year and have never returned to the top flight.
Smith saw his old club lose 2-1 at home to Barnsley on Tuesday but believes Brighton can challenge for promotion from the Championship once their squad is fully fit.
The former chief executive at the Scottish Football Association and ex-director of football at Rangers currently works in the media but is open to returning to the game.
