Newcastle's Alan Pardew 'sad' over Joe Kinnear departure

Manager Alan Pardew says it is "sad" that Joe Kinnear departed as Newcastle's director of football this week, and believes he did "a lot of good work".

Kinnear failed to make a single permanent signing during more than seven months in the post, and sold highly rated midfielder Yohan Cabaye to PSG during the January transfer window.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's Premier League match against Chelsea, Pardew says Jose Mourinho's side are in "good shape", and knows Stamford Bridge will be "a difficult place to get a win".
