Carver credits 'energetic' Everton

Newcastle United assistant manager John Carver says his side were beaten by an "attacking and energetic" Everton, and feels the Magpies' season cannot be allowed to fizzle out.

Ross Barkley, Romelu Lukaku and Leon Osman scored as Everton won 3-0 at St James' Park and Carver admits the visitors were the better side throughout.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew will be back in the dugout for Newcastle's trip to Southampton after his three-match stadium ban for his headbutt on David Meyler.
