Players are behind me - Pardew

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew says his players are behind him, after the Magpies recorded their first ever win at Etihad Stadium to knock Manchester City out of the League Cup.

Holders City went behind after six minutes when Rolando Aarons scored with an angled drive, and Moussa Sissoko slid in the second with 15 minutes remaining to give Newcastle a 2-0 win.

Pardew's position as Newcastle manager has come under scrutiny in recent weeks, but his team have now won three games in a row to move up the Premier League table and progress to the League Cup quarter-finals.
