Stephanie Roche: Burrows recalls Fifa Puskas Award experience
A day after Ireland's Stephanie Roche finishes second in the battle for the Fifa Puskas Award for goal of the year, ex-Glentoran striker Matty Burrows recalls his experience of being shortlisted for the prize.
Roche, who scored a stunner for Peamount against Wexford in the Irish top flight, had hoped to be the first female winner of the Puskas Award.
She landed 33% of the public vote to James Rodriguez's 42% of the 3.3million votes cast.
Burrows found himself in the running for the award in 2011 after scoring a sensational back-heel volley goal for Glentoran against Portadown on 5 October 2010.
