Ballymena aim for first League Cup triumph against holders Reds

Ballymena United will aim for the club's first ever League Cup triumph in Saturday's final against three-in-a-row seeking Cliftonville at Windsor Park.

The Braidmen have been on the receiving end of a few hammerings from the Reds in recent years and manager Glenn Ferguson is demanding a committed defensive display in Saturday's decider.

However, Stephen McBride says the team will go into the final optimistic that they can surprise the holders while striker Matthew Tipton's says their battling display to earn a 5-5 draw against Portadown has boosted morale.

The League Cup Final is on the Red Button and BBC Sport NI website from 17:30 GMT.
