FAW chief worried Team GB plans will threaten Wales' status

Football Association of Wales (FAW) president Trefor Lloyd Hughes says he cannot support the English Football Association's plans to enter men's and women's Great Britain teams for the 2016 Olympics.

GB teams played at London 2012 when the FA had said that it would be a one-off.

However, the English FA has now written to the Football Associations in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales to ask them if they want to take part in Rio 2016.

Hughes claimed the English FA had not been "open and transparent" and said its actions could threaten Wales' status as an independent football nation.
