Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that his side have suffered from not having striker Daniel Sturridge fit this season.
Rodgers anticipates that the 25-year-old will return to training in September after undergoing a "successful" hip operation in the USA.
The Reds face Premier League champions Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, trailing fourth-placed Manchester United by four points in the race for Champions League qualification.
Sturridge scored 24 goals from 33 appearances last season, but has played only 18 matches for Liverpool this term. However, Rodgers is hopeful that the problems and issues that Sturridge has experienced will have been "resolved" by the operation.
