From non-league to an England cap

Leicester forward Jamie Vardy and QPR striker Charlie Austin have both enjoyed a dramatic rise from non-league to international football.

Austin was playing for part-timers Poole Town just six years ago while Vardy helped Fleetwood Town earn promotion to the Football League in 2012.

Both players were named in England's squad to play the Republic of Ireland and Slovenia this month and say they hope their stories will inspire other players plying their trade in the lower leagues.

Vardy, 28, finished with four Premier League goals this season, while Austin, 25, netted 17 times for relegated QPR.
