England Under-21s: Harry Kane 'gutted' after Euros exit

Striker Harry Kane says the players are "gutted" after England Under-21s' European Championship campaign comes to an end with a 3-1 defeat by Italy.

With Portugal drawing against Sweden in Group B's other game, a point would have taken England to the semi-finals, but they conceded two goals in as many first-half minutes to Andrea Belotti and Marco Benassi. The latter scored Italy's third with a header before Nathan Redmond netted late on as England finished bottom of the group.

Despite the disappointing exit, manager Gareth Southgate has said he would like to stay on in charge of the Under-21s, and insists the players will be "massively improved by the experience" of tournament football.
