Reading manager Steve Clarke has backed Jonathan Bond despite the goalkeeper's late error costing them a first win of the season at Sheffield Wednesday.
Bond dropped a Rhoys Wiggins cross which allowed Wednesday substitute Modou Sougou to equalise in a 1-1 draw at Hillsborough.
"It's a big mistake at the end that cost us three points after another good performance," Clarke told BBC Radio Berkshire.
"It will always happen, goalkeepers make mistakes. Jonathan's a young boy who needs to learn and I said to him after the game that I'm sure he'll make saves that lead to us gaining points. This is the life of a goalkeeper."
