Republic face tough task against Germans

The Republic of Ireland face a tough task in defending their unbeaten home record in the present Euro 2016 qualifying campaign as they take on world champions Germany in Dublin.

One victory against either the Germans on Thursday or Poland on Sunday would guarantee at least a third-place finish and a play-off spot.

The Irish will be without Everton defender Seamus Coleman, who is out with a hamstring injury, plus suspended midfielders Glenn Whelan and James McClean.

BBC Sport NI's Mark Sidebottom reports.
