New Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce on 'big challenge' ahead

New Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce says he faces "a big challenge" to ensure the club avoid "the panic and fear zone" of yet another relegation battle this season.

The Black Cats appointed Allardyce after Dutchman Dick Advocaat quit the Stadium of Light on 4 October, with the club second-bottom of the Premier League and winless in their opening eight games

The former West Ham, Blackburn and Bolton boss, 60, admits that he had reservations about taking the job because of the high turnover of managers in recent years, but says he could not help but accept the post, describing management as "almost an addiction".
