Kenny Shiels says he will relish the task of managing Derry City

New Derry City manager Kenny Shiels says he is determined to turn around the Brandywell club's fortunes.

Shiels says one of his main task will be find local talent in the Derry area.

"We've got to try and integrate the local young players into the squad and then into the first team but I may have to go afar to get in some quality first," said the Magherafelt man, who has previously managed Irish League clubs Carrick Rangers, Coleraine and Ballymena United plus Scottish outfits Greenock Morton and Kilmarnock.

First up, Shiels will have the task of assessing whether to offer new deals to several players who are out of contract following the completion of the League of Ireland season.
