Gary Rowett: New tactics may work for Villa, says Birmingham boss

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett talks to BBC WM about the impact a change of management can have - especially on a struggling team like their main rivals from across the second city, Aston Villa.

New Villa boss Remi Garde will take charge of his first game away at Manchester City on Sunday.

A year on from the success of his own appointment at St Andrew's, Blues boss Rowett says: "I'm sure new ideas and a different philosophy will hopefully have an impact for them. You have to go in and put a smile on people's faces. You have to find a tactical solution that suits the players.

"It's a very difficult job at the moment. You can see they're short of confidence. But it's about doing things slightly different to what's been done before. And, if you can get a couple of early results, it adds a little credence to what you're trying to do."
