African Footballer of the Year nominee Yaya Toure
The only player on the shortlist to lift a trophy this year is Yaya Touré and what a prize it was, as the 32-year-old captained Ivory Coast to a first Africa Cup of Nations title in over two decades.
Older than his rival nominees, the central midfielder is key to Manchester City's hopes of silverware and his performances been recognised by Fifa selecting him as the only African on its prestigious Ballon d'Or shortlist.
Voting for the award opened at 1055GMT on Saturday 14 November and closed at 1800GMT on Monday 30 November.
The winner will be revealed in a special show on BBC World News at 1530GMT on Friday 11 December.
