Kenny Shiels: Derry City manager criticises his team's fixtures schedule

Derry City manager Kenny Shiels praises his 'tired' team's display in the win over Bohemians but criticises the League of Ireland's fixtures schedule.

Rory Patterson's early goal earned Derry a 1-0 win at the Brandywell and the Candystripes remain second in the table - two points behind Dundalk.

"The FAI or whoever organises the fixtures, they have got to look at it scientifically and understand that we're putting players under duress," said the Derry manager.

Shiels' side were playing their third match in under a week after drawing 1-1 at Longford last Saturday and beating Sligo in an EA Sports Cup game on Tuesday night.
