Brazilian GP: Fernando Alonso wants 'strange circumstances'

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso says his eighth place in qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix is where he expected to be, as he attempts to overhaul Sebastian Vettel's 13-point lead in the drivers' standings in the final race of the 2012 Formula 1 season.

Alonso says he hopes there will be some "strange circumstances", such as rain, that lead to a "chaotic race", allowing him to challenge Vettel, who will start in fourth.

The 2005 and 2006 world champion says his team have been running "maximum downforce" in the dry, hinting at a set-up suited to wet weather.
