Lewis Hamilton says it is "unacceptable" that four drivers suffered tyre blowouts at the British Grand Prix and that "safety is the biggest issue".
"Somebody could have crashed, it is only when somebody gets hurt that someone will do something about it," he added.
When asked if drivers needed to sit down with Pirelli and governing body the FIA to discuss the tyre situation, Hamilton said: "I think it's a waste of time to be honest. They've seen what happened today. If they don't react, that says everything."
The 2008 world champion was leading his home Grand Prix when his left-rear tyre exploded. But the Englishman did manage to limp to the pits and worked his way back up the field to finish fourth.
