Spanish GP: Lewis Hamilton 'ecstatic' to claim pole position

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton says he is "ecstatic" after putting a difficult day behind him to claim pole for the Spanish Grand Prix ahead of team-mate Nico Rosberg.

The 2008 world champion had looked to be struggling, but a superb lap in the final seconds gave him a fourth pole in five races, ahead of Rosberg and Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.

Hamilton has never won in Spain and says he will be "extra motivated" going into Sunday's race at the Circuit de Catalunya.
